Answering the big science questions around climate change and the diversity of life requires lots of data, and our researchers can't gather this alone. You can help.
Our citizen science projects invite you to actively contribute to the Museum's science research. By recording observations of wildlife, collecting samples, or transcribing handwritten records, you can unlock the potential of our collections and gather vital data for our scientists, helping them to better understand the natural world.

Essays submitted to BBC Radio 4's PM programme detailing its listeners' coronavirus experiences are to be archived by the British Library.
The Covid Chronicles were launched in March when presenter Evan Davis asked his audience to write in with personal accounts of life during lockdown.
Hundreds of people have since submitted accounts, some of which have been broadcast on the programme.
These and many more are to be included in the library's born-digital archives.
Essays of around 400 words in length can still be submitted to the programme via its email address.

                                                                                      COVID -19

During these unprecedented times our personal and family wellbeing has gained greater significance. There are many stressors on us at the moment from work, personally, and from family perspectives. It is even more important that we look after ourselves, our families. our teams, now, and in the months to come, including when this is ‘over’.

Here is information and support for you to access if you wish:

For ED:
Counselling and Mental Health Team – Occupational Health and Wellbeing, Pastoral Support
Psychological Support: Where to go?
We have set up a psychological support hotline: 01752 477302. You can access support from counsellors and psychologists via the hotline Monday-Friday, 8am-8pm.
This hotline serves as first contact for any staff struggling with the stress, trauma and overwhelm around COVID-19. Through the hotline we will offer support, resources and any necessary referrals to further support.

We are offering a weekly debriefing and mindfulness session for ED staff every Thursday at 15:00-16:00. The session will begin with a short mindfulness exercise, followed by the opportunity to talk, debrief and seek out further support.

Buddy System
In ED you're already great at looking out for and supporting one another. So, working on your strengths, we want to take advantage of already-existing peer-to-peer support using a Buddy System. This is a psychological support system that will try to prevent any of us from falling through the net during this time.

Being someone's buddy means checking in, asking how they are and "having their back" throughout this crisis. This is an opt-in system, please respond to this email (plh-tr.covid19psychologicalsupport@nhs.net) if you would like to be part of the buddy system.

Wishing you all the best, look after one another.

For Trust staff in general:
Launch of NHS Wellbeing Support
The NHS has developed a range of wellbeing support to care for and protect all of our NHS people, whether at the front line or in supporting services. This includes a 24/7 text helpline.

All our people will have access to a range of support (#OurNHSPeople Wellbeing Support) through one point of contact:
  • a free wellbeing support helpline 0300 131 7000, available from 07:00 – 23.00 seven days a week, providing emotional support and onward signposting to specialist financial advice, bereavement care and coaching
  • a 24/7 text alternative to the above helpline - simply text FRONTLINE to 85258
  • online peer to peer, team and personal resilience support, including through Silver Cloud, and free mindfulness apps including Unmind,  Headspace Sleepio and Daylight

The NHS Staff support website is also a useful hub: https://people.nhs.uk/help/

Retail and transport offers available to NHS Staff are detailed here: https://www.england.nhs.uk/coronavirus/nhs-staff-offers/

We encourage NHS teams to take immediate advantage of these services. They can be used in addition to the support available from your own NHS organisations and will develop further in coming days and weeks in line with user feedback (nhsi.wellbeingc19@nhs.net)

The Samaritans have launched an NHS Staff Support Line on 0300 131 7000. This is staffed between 0700-2300. Alternative text FRONTLINE to 85258 for 24/7 support.
