Nursing Education in the ED

Link to Education Calendar

Nursing staff education and training

As you are all aware ED is a highly specialised area with a great deal of medical equipment, a huge range of different presentations of patient and we need all the staff to be highly skilled and highly knowledgeable.
If you find you require extra support, or want more information on a certain area please let your clinical educator know so we can tailor education around your needs.
Medical devices and equipment

Our medical device leads are (Jennifer Gray, Alice Popham and Claire Airlie), however if you are unsure of any equipment issues please
escalate so we can train and ensure competence.
Fiona Veale, Stuart Quarterman along with other staff are also able to provide training on different equipment.

Turbo Teach
Turbo Teach should happen weekly.  These are short, planned sessions on a variety of topics.  Stuart will be approaching people to prepare and deliver these.  The aim will be to present to as many members of staff as possible.

All presentations will be uploaded here and links sent out via our various communication channels.

Our attendance to the turbo teach will be recorded and kept for future reference.

CPD Days
The last Tuesday of each month, the department, we will be assisted my the military and putting on study days on a variety of themes.  Civilian sessions will run from 9am to 12pm.  Any staff not on duty are welcome to attend as part of their 'Continued Professional Development'.  Stuart will publish these in the Education Diary as and when they are planned.

There are many outside willing volunteers and clinical experts that want to share their knowledge with us to make us better 'all rounders'. Whether these are sales reps to discuss new equipment, or clinical experts who are coming to discuss changes in practice or just to help us perform a little better in some aspects.

If you personally feel that you would benefit from teaching in a certain area please let Stuart Quarterman, Claire Airlie (MOD) or a band 7 know and we will endeavor to provide it.
